Aloha Friends,
I’m not sure if you’re aware, but right this very minute, The Festival Beach Food Forest is in danger of being destroyed by a fucking pipeline. More information on that can be found here.
Today, I saw that Evergreen Chai is selling Chai packets through the end of March to help financially support the Food Forest during this critical time. If you are in a position to donate, or if you own/work for a local business that is able to donate a portion of sales to the cause, please do so.
If that is unrealistic right now, fret not! There are other ways to support!
One of the easiest things to do is to help spread the word. You can do this by regularly sharing the petition on your page, in your stories or -even better- posting it in your Instagram bio.
If you’re available and motivated tomorrow, please join us at City Hall at noon to stand with Aly Tharp when she addresses the Austin City Council on this urgent matter. (Thursday, February 5th at 12:00 p.m.
Austin City Hall: 301 W. Second Street, Austin, TX
Parking for the City Hall garage can be validated at the table outside of Council Chambers.)
Reach out to your City Council Members! Remember that they work for you, and it is imperative that you guide them towards doing what is best for this community and the world!
Register for (and attend) an emergency volunteer day. While the ultimate goal is that this pipeline will be stopped and redirected away from the Food Forest, construction has already begun, so we need all hands on deck to relocate as many plants as possible: February 7 February 10 February 12 February 14

The Festival Beach Food Forest is an unique and extraordinary collaboration between humans and nature that is deserving of community support.
While many worthy projects are currently calling for public awareness, I feel most passionate about this particular effort because, from my perspective, we must have spaces where people can develop a real relationship with our food sources.
As a farmer and gardener for the past 14 years, I have often been alarmed by how misinformed people are when it comes to food production in modern times. This has not happened by accident. The intention is to keep us in the dark about how easy it is to connect with our food, our Earth, and our power.
In order to stand up for our rights, we need to be well-nourished.
In order to be well-nourished, we need to have access to a wide variety of healthy, locally-sourced foods.
If we want to achieve that goal, we need to protect spaces like the Festival Beach Food Forest.
Thank you, eternally, for your time. If you are interested in discussing this or brainstorming other ways to support this urgent matter, please feel free to reach out. I Love you.
